Women now represent the majority of the workforce in community pharmacy and yet there are many barriers to women fulfilling their full potential in their roles, and we are underrepresented in senior leadership positions. Having diversity and equality within organisations is positive for performance and good for decision-making. With much going on in other industries and professions to correct the gender imbalance, now is the time to get to grips with this issue. To help with this and to create awareness and a place to network and support women, Deborah Evans recently set up a Women in Pharmacy Facebook community, which now has almost 7000 members. It is clear from what members of the community say, that the opportunity to talk, understand and support one another is critical.
Pharmacy Forward are hosting a Women in Pharmacy networking event, at 10am on Sunday 10 June. Please arrive by 9.45am to be signed in.
